Of late the intrusion of computer generated sound into African Gospel music has almost destroyed the soul of our music. The cry at the moment in both Africa and the world at large is for live performance to bring back the authentic African instrumentation with its rhythmic fusions.
Once again, Ghana – the pearl of Africa and the champion of African excellence at 50 has set the pace for Africa in the world through the research work of the Accra based Shiloh Gospel Music Academy. This authentic African gospel music research unit of Black Lineage Reality Research Centre has for the past eight (8) years conducted an exhaustive research into African music. The purpose was to express our devotion to God in praises and worship through our own brand of music. It is through this effort that two great groups were born. The first is the adult group called the “Shiloh Super African Live Gospel Band & the Kushite Voices from Ghana” made up of twenty (21) solid artistes all of whom are working on their own albums. The second group is Africa’s No. 1 juvenile gospel band called the “Junior LTJBM Live Gospel Band” dubbed “Ayeyie o group” i.e. The “Praise Group”. What makes the advent of Shiloh and Junior LTJBM Bands a milestone in Ghana’s music history? This will be the first time Africa is showcasing through these Ghanaian groups authentic and infectious African gospel music fusions in three unprecedented dimensions. It is significant to note that those who have seen Shiloh’s exploits have termed it a great patriotic effort ironically at the blind side of African music stakeholders. Why? This is because the groups have their own video and audio studios, sound engineering and audio-visual departments with all relevant logistics thus debunking the notion that African’s cannot do it for themselves. Since many research works remain dusty on shelves in Africa Shiloh and the Junior LTJBM Live Gospel Bands can no longer remain in the wilderness. Its launching time! Thus, as a befitting herald the two groups launched three (3) albums at a time, (two for Shiloh and one for the Junior LTJBM Live Gospel Band) in a joint concert unprecedented in the history of music launch in Ghana, Africa and the whole world. |
